18 mei en 21 mei: debatten over Palestina

Op 18 en op 21 mei vinden in Rotterdam twee debatten plaats over Palestina. De 18e doen SAP-lid Lot van Baaren en Loes de Kleijn verslag van hun reis naar Palestina begin 2008 en spreekt de Palestijnse politiek analyst Omar Barghouti. Op 21 mei treedt onder andere Norman Finkelstein op in Arminius.

18 mei, 15.00 tot 18.00 uur: Themabijeenkomst over Palestina, met accent op vakbonds- en andere solidariteitsinitiatieven. Lot van Baaren en Loes de Kleijn doen ondersteund door foto- en filmmateriaal verslag van hun bezoek begin dit jaar aan de Westbank en o.a. de Palestijnse vakbond PGFTU.

Omar Barghouti, Palestijns politiek analist uit Jeruzalem spreekt over de recente ontwikkelingen en over de noodzaak van internationale actie met boycots, sancties en maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen, zoals destijds rond Apartheid in Zuid Afrika.

21 mei, 20.00 uur (zaal open 19.30 uur): Palestina: beeldvorming en werkelijkheid. Een debat over macht, manipulatie en internationaal recht. Met oud-premier Dries van Agt en de joods-Amerikaanse schrijver Norman Finkelstein, schrijver van het beruchte boek'De Holocaustindustrie en het nog te publiceren The end of Israel. In Arminius, Museumpark 3 in Rotterdam
