The Revolutionary Workers’ Party (Mindanao) (Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Mangagawa-Mindanao or RPM-M) – was founded in 2001. But it is the product of a history which goes back a decade earlier, to the crisis of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP, Maoist) in 1992-1993. This crisis resulted in a whole series of splits, involving particularly commissions dealing with sectors of the party’s work and territorial, regional party structures. Modelling the transition from Violence to Peace – Introduction

Initiatives and methods to transform violence to less violent and to peace are as varied as the diversities of circumstances and contexts they find themselves in. The creativities of the peacebuilders with the stakeholders have added beauty to these initiatives and peacebuilding activities.

Last August, the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa ng Mindanao (RPM-M) successfully concluded its second congress. Over several days, activists discussed the prospects and perspectives of our movement and elected a new leadership for our organization. The significant changes brought about the globalized tensions and conflicts have influenced the outlook and frameworks of various institutions, groups, and revolutionary parties to review and rethink their strategies and methodologies in conflict transformation and peace building works.
